RiskScape is award-winning technology that is developed and backed by world leading scientific expertise from New Zealand Crown Research Institutes GNS Science and NIWA.

Along with support from the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake and software team, Catalyst – RiskScape provides a modern software for risk modelling underpinned by the latest scientific research.

The robust tool is largely thanks to years of long-term investment in scientific research through the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Hazard and Risk Management Programme (Strategic Science and Investment Fund).

The first release of the RiskScape software was in 2006 and this platform was operational for 11 years.

In 2018, the RiskScape research programme began developing a new, open-source software to serve researchers and clients in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. Catalyst IT has provided software development on RiskScape since 2018.

In 2019, the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake came on board as a partner and use their own instance of RiskScape.
